Amy Alkon
Amy Alkon writes transdisciplinary applied behavioral science. Alkon synthesizes research findings from across evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, social psychology, and clinical psychology, translates the findings into understandable language, and then turns them into highly practical advice. Alkon writes an award-winning "science-help" advice column, syndicated to newspapers across the North America via Creators. Alkon's latest "science-help" book is "Unf*ckology: A Field Guide to Living with Guts and Confidence," (St. Martin's Press). She is the past President of the Applied Evolutionary Psychology Society and gave a TED talk, "The surprising self-interest in being kind to strangers." Alkon works as a volunteer mediator doing free dispute resolution for Los Angeles residents one day a week in the Los Angeles City Attorney's office. Alkon also does science-based coaching for individuals.
